My teaching brings together musicianship, vocal preparation, and the expressive work of telling a story.
I teach private voice in Fairbanks and bring a background in K–12 music education, choral conducting, musical theatre, and opera. My experience includes general music, choir, band, orchestra, AP Music Theory, and coaching singers for the stage.

Recent Fairbanks work includes Next to Normal, The Addams Family, and stage direction and vocal coaching for Mean Girls at Lathrop High School (2024). Earlier credits span school productions, youth opera, and community theatre.
From the classroom to the stage
As a private voice teacher, choral director, and music educator, I bring nearly three decades of experience helping singers develop their musicianship and prepare for performance. My teaching draws on my own work in opera, musical theatre, and concert repertoire, together with a degree in music education and a master’s in conducting. In the studio and rehearsal room, I connect the musical work—learning a score, understanding a phrase, listening closely—with the expressive choices that make a performance personal.
My classroom and ensemble experience spans elementary through high school music, including general music, choir, band, orchestra, and AP Music Theory. I have led concert, chamber, and show choirs, prepared school choruses for performances with Toccata Orchestra of Lake Tahoe, and served as a guest conductor and solo and ensemble adjudicator. I have also worked with fellow music educators as an instructional coach, including summer programs with SINEM in Costa Rica.
At Nevada Opera, I served as Director of Education and Outreach from 2006 to 2010 and Youth Chorus Director from 2007 to 2010. I developed lesson plans for classroom and music teachers, coordinated school visits and outreach performances, and helped students prepare to experience live opera. For the youth chorus, I recruited, auditioned, and rehearsed more than 20 young singers for concerts, children’s operas, and mainstage appearances in productions including Hansel and Gretel, La Bohème, and Carmen.
My vocal coaching work includes Rent at Altarena Playhouse, Next to Normal at Custom Made Theatre, and Mean Girls at Lathrop High School, where I also served as stage director in 2024. Across private lessons, choral rehearsals, and theatre productions, my work brings together the preparation of individual singers and the shared musical responsibilities of an ensemble.
